Hello,i'am sorry for my bad english.
Tech support doesn't function and so i write here.
I have a power supply unit Thermaltake Toughpower 750W not modular (W117 model). The PSU is new but have a problem.
When the computer came from a stress situation(gaming) to a rest situation(windows xp) and the PSU fan begin to slow down the RPM, start's to make a strange noise.
I have recorded the noise
LINK:
http://files-upload.com/it/419609/V005.WAV.html(wait 25 s before download)
The strange noise is from 18 to 32 seconds.
To listen the noise you must raise to high volume your speacker.

I am italian.
What can i do??
How can i begin RMA procedure with Thermaltake??
Can i have an email of italian tech support of thermaltake???
Than You.

Hmm... I can't help you with the fact that you're Italian. ;) But let's see what we can assess about the noise.

Are talking about that crackling noise? Sort of sounds like static, right?

I haven't heard that one before. Sometimes at low loads or crossloads some Toughpowers have a tendency to whine or buzz. But that sounds like a crackle.

Am I hearing the noise your referring to correctly?

I believe you are as that static sound starts right at 18 seconds and stops at 32 or 33 seconds in. Could it be from saturation of a coil?

Yes it is.
It is like a static sound. But it is not easy to describe.

What mean "coil"???
It's same that electrolytic capacitor??

No. Like a copper wound coil. It could be that, but the noise is so "staticy" when they tend to be more of a buzz.

Whatever it is, it's definitely not normal and you should contact TT for a replacement.

Where did you purchase the unit? As far as I'm aware (from users in the UK an EU) Tt does warrant the Toughpower there but just for one year.

If it's an online shop they should have the invoice in their computers. It sounds like they're a bit of a dodgy operation. Besides, a photocopy of their invoice should suffice. Here in the states you can send a photocopy of your original invoice in so that you don't lose the original.

If it's new return it to the retailer. That's always the first rule of thumb for any product. After a certain amount of time retailers will tell you to go to the MFG but that's usually after thirty to ninety days.

Thermaltake support reply:

Hi,

In your case, you can contact with reseller to check problem and take
replacement, if your psu is in warranty. Also there is a test you can do for
your psu like picture showing.

Best Regards

This is the pictures:

What can I test??
I think that pictures show how switch up the PSU without connect to motherboard.
Then?

Listen for the noise I assume. I think you're just spinning your wheels, you need to contact the reseller and force them to take the PSU back. They have a copy of your sales information on their server, you had to use some form of verifiable payment since it was an online purchase and you have a copy of your invoice. Make them replace it.
