The next gen of Nividia cards? I'm assuming they'll need 8 Pins connectors like the 2900xt.

I have an XCLIO Greatpower 750W modular and it's been great so far, and i'm loathe to buy something else (even thopugh the Thermaltake Tp 1000w Mod is tempting anyway!), there's no 8 pin "sockets" in my PSU, so i'm fearing the worst.

I'm hoping ther's some sort of solution that won't cost me £100+ after buying a new PSU just four months ago.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, i'm gonna try and rephrase that - assuming the next gen of NV cards are 8 pin, and i don't posess any, is it just a case of acquiring a couple, or will i have to upgrade my PSU (see above) when i buy my next GPU?

Or will i just need to find a 8pin/6pin connector? ie 6 pin to PSU, 8 pin to GPU?

The G90 cards will use a 6-pin and an 8-pin like the 2900's do.

There is no 6 to 8-pin adapter, but I've seen plenty of people grab a couple extra ground wires to use for the last two pins.

Then again, if you're considering spending the money on the next gen Nvidia card, which isn't going to be cheap, why wouldn't you spend the money to get a better power supply (Xcio's not exactly "great") with the correct connectors?

I wanted to say that too, but I realized it's better you said it. Glad site is back up, Jonny, too bad it's been giving you headaches! :wall:

Yeah, if you are willing to spend that much money on video cards don't be a cheap arse  and refuse to buy decent power supplies, that is just, well (I want to be nice here), silly.

Sell what you have, there are always guys like me that buy the used stuff the rich kids tire of or don't need any longer, heh... :D

I'm not into messing around with electrics to be honest, i'd rather spend the dough and buy a new PSU, my point is my XCLIO though not uber high end is easily capable of running a single card system and C2D - if a connection solution could be found.

Oh well, i'll just have to treat myself to a new PSU with the proper connectors, which won't exactly break my heart! - i'm going total overkill this time, i'n not getting caught out again! - TT 1000W Mod.

Thanks for the help.
