I am trying to design a counter display for my company's retail item. I would love to be able to ad a small LCD screen, with a button that a shopper could press and get a quick video, with audio.

Now I know expensive Kiosks exist, but that's not what I am going for. Do the components exist to do this on a SMALL scall?

A small LCD screen (like 2.5")
A way to store a small video file on an EPROM?
etc. etc. So this all runs off of batteries?

You get the idea, would appreciate ANY help I can get here.

Thanks ahead.

Sergio

So basically you're looking for this:

I mean what else can have a small color LCD screen, play videos with sound and have a battery power?

Why does every one send people to the most expensive place on the web. :D

A little MP4 player is going to be the only way you can get all of this to work on that small of a screen running off batteries.

There are cases with 7" touch screen LCD's built in that are made for HTPC, but they're larger, more expensive and don't run on batteries. :D

The thing is I do not need such a complex item.

This will only play one video, that's it.

So if there is way to build it out of componenets, I would love to look at that.

That's why I asked, are there any chipsets out there that hold and play small MPEGsor Flash files, etc?

Since this is for a retail display, I would love to be able to mass produce it, without adding $80 to the cost of each one.

Not sure what I want is out there, but have to try...

To build it out of components will cost you the same if not more to accomplish.

Well yes, but it doesn't answer my original question, which mind you could be ALL MY FAULT. I have that disease where I know I want to order a pizza, I can see it in my mind, taste it there as well. But what comes out of my mouth is "bread with sauce".

I don't want to build an iPod with video screen.

This would be a one video shot deal, no additional movies, no ability to download more, rewind, pause, etc. Just one screen, push a button, and watch a 90 sec video clip. That's it. That's why am trying to find out if such a chipset exists.

If you go to an OEM with that request, yes I'm sure it's possible but you're looking at hundreds of dollars per unit for a small order or less for an order of thousands of units. On the enthusiast end of things, I think you're SOL.

No, none that I'm aware of. You should try to contact the official companies which make the whole video players (like the one that I linked) and see if they would be willing to create a custom one which would suit all your needs.
