Hi,

Coupla' questions

1) Currently running a SS Zeus 850 and thinking of the best way to clean the fan as Im guessing that the screws used to attached the fan grills are also the same set thats holding on the fan, afraid that if i remove the screws the fan will hv nothing to hold onto (trying my best not to remove the cover and inadvertantly touching something im not supposed to)

2) And out of curiosity, how would you go about cleaning the fan on the Thermaltake 1200w seeing as the fan grill is the punched out type. :D , removing the cover?

TIA

I simply used canned air to clean my PSU's, stick the nozzle in and get as much as I can blown out with the unit off. I will then power it up and hit the fan from the outside one more time.

Just don't let the fan spin to hyper-speed when blasting it with compressed air.

Are you kidding? I LOVE doing that! Wssssssszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!! And then you shoot it going the other direction to make it screech to a halt and spin the other way. Wrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzzzzzzsssszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing!

Yeah, this makes cleaning PSUs so much more enjoyable not to mention all the neato sound effects you can make by positioning the nozzle just right.

I use a regular (with a small storage tank) air compressor for all the cleaning/blowing needs :D Nothing beats the endless supply of high-pressure air :p Yea, yea, I've heard all the urban legends about how the air from compressor has enough moisture to cause an electrical short but in my experience no such thing ever happened :p

thx for the input guys/gals I think :D ...seeing as the fan on the SS Zeus is an intake...wouldnt blowing compressed air just blow all the gook into the innards...had a chat w a mate and he suggested removing just 3 screws and reach in w a clothe...maybe i'll try that if i dont get electrocuted first :p

Canned air + vacuum cleaner, should get most of the " stuff " out.

Yeah, I do the canned air - vacuum combo too, this way the dust is sucked away and not just put on the wall :P

:wtf:
You are so wrong it is a crime.

What little lube that is in there will be displaced and the races/balls scored.
A once quiet fan may become noisy and bearing life WILL be shortened.

Dual-stage air compressor and a feather duster for me!

Works pretty good on PSUs too... :D

I prefer hanging it out of the window of my Chevy as I speed down the 405 in pursuit of OJ.
