i'd like to know how much i'll have to spend for futureproof psu.
here are some facts:
R600 or G80 ~ 300W ---> ~25A
QX6600@3600 ~300W ---> ~25A
source - extreme psu calculator http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
so what do you guys think? is it possible to buy decent power supply for future system, spending only 200$?
i guess our popular corsair 620W and other seasonic psus, except 700W (>200$), are not strong enough! what bout pcp&c 750 silancer?
i'm not even going to ask about multiple rail supplies - 25A on a single rail is pretty much!

Bullshit. There's no "facts" in those numbers and certainly no "facts" to be extrapolated by using Extreme PSU Calculator. Extreme PSU is a reference at best.

Does anyone else think that GPUs are going down the road that Intel went down with the P4....hot and power consuming.
Whatever happened to making things smaller, cooler, quieter, yet more powerful....AMD and intel (eventually) did it, why can't ATi and nVidia?

The new Nvidia's are 225W max & the new ATI's "might be" 300W+ each.
For $199 the PC P&C 750W with up to +12V@60A is the best bet. ;)
I would say get one that will handle all your present resources and one of these supposed high power units. When they come out if they are less you can probably run both with that unit. If they are really monsters you can run one off your system Power Supply and add one of the auxillary power supplies that sit in a drive bay to power the second one.

thanks for answers!
i dont believe those stupid calculators too, but future video cards will be power hungry, and we cant deny it!
so what do you think, which one is the best:
1) pcp&c 750W silencer with 60A on 12V, but silencers are not turbocools :( (i love my 510 sli TC)
2) seasonic power supplies. are they strong enough?
3) and what about Zippy GSM-6600P? i know about zippy quality and i dont care noise, but who needs mega-quality if it cant handle r600 and kentsfield? i'm not not going to buy psu for my grandchildren, i just need a psu for next <2 years. so, is zippy strong enough to power hardly overclocked QX and r600/g80?
P.S. sorry for my poor english!
The silencer should do it. It's no turbo cool, but it's still a PCP&C.
The seasonics, that's a bit harder. I would think the M12-700 wouldn't struggle, but other seasonic based units, like the HX-520, might have some difficulty. But the 620 SHOULD do it. Tons of amperage, great quality.. I'm not a salesman.
The GSM-6600P.. tough question. 40a, but zippy quality.. It MAY be enough, but i'd try one of the more powerful zippies: gaming power 720 (52a) or 800 (60a),
The silencer should do.

The PC P&C 750W is built by Seasonic under contract for PC P&C.
Of course the new PC P&C Turbo-Cool 1KW-SR with +12V@72A will get the job done for $549. ;)
