Lately I've been on a quest to quiet down my computer, and I'm thinking I may want to replace the psu (currently using the one in the title). I'm starting to window-shop for possible replacements, and was wondering what people thought. I'll avoid the reasons for the requirments listed below for now unless you guys really wanna know :)
Requirements:
Large single 12v rail (basically within the range of what I'm using now)
24 + 8 + 4 pin connectors
SATA and PCI-E connectors
At least 3A on the +5vsb
The closest I've seen so far is the PCPnC 750w. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with it, and how loud it is. The 40c rating is somewhat concerning, but unfortunately Zippy's website seems to be down atm, so I cannot double-check what the 6850P is rated at. As such, I also cannot find how loud the Zippy is in dba (would be nice to compare).
Any input is appreciated :)

Remember that the other current Seasonic built units on the market (the Corsair, the M12, the Antec Trio) are also actually single 12V rail, despite what is stated on the label. ;)

I did not know that :)

I forgot to say that if I could find something that will get the job done but does not have a fan on the bottom that would be optimal. In the case I'm using there is a shelf for the PSU, so any bottom-mounted fan would be stifled, if the PSU fits at all. And no, cutting it isn't an option: it's pretty thick steel (chenbro SR107).

Zippy should be rated at 40c IIRC.
And you have that damn mobo still......took me a while to find a compatible PSU the first time :p
Let me know if you decide to sell the Zippy though :D

Pretty much the only "quiet" PSU on the market that uses an 80MM is the Silencer 750W. Considering that also has the single 12V rail you're wanting, it seems to be the best choice for you. ;)

hehe sorry to undermine all your work :p I spent a few months researching this build myself, but I went with this mobo knowing I could hang on to it for quite some time.
You're right on the Zippy, it's rated at 40c, and yes, if I decide to go for the Silencer I will def. be looking to sell the Zippy.

Yeah, it seems to be. For the hell of it though, assuming the bottom fan wasn't an issue what, what do you think would be the next best choice?
I ask because I have two cases I've had this build in, and they both have their ups and downs. On the case I'm currently not using (TJ07) a bottom fan would be fine because it mounts the PSU's sideways. In the TJ07, the harddrives melt. In the chenbro, the PSU mostly melts. :wall:
The M12 700w looks pretty good, but it's basically the same price as the silencer. Slightly lower power, but modular (which isn't a big deal to me anyways). Any good reason to pick one over the other?
Also, how are the cable lengths on the Silencer?
Thanks for all the input guys and/or gals :)

So I'm probably going to do this soon, but wanted a few more opinions quick. Which would you guys go for: the Seasonic M12 700w, or the PCPnC 750w?
Just wondering if there was any compelling reason to chose one over the other ;)

Modular versus not modular. And custom wiring harness on PC Power and Cooling if you want it too.
