Hi jonny,
Firstly awesome work on the reviews, I commend your thoroughness :D
Secondly my rig is as Signature and I have decided that a new PSU is in order in order to OC the CPU some more, hopefully 3G.
I have narrowed the choice to the above two as I need it within the next week or so and my original choice of the Mushkin XP650 wont arrive in the U.K. for another month :(
Obviously I thought that the more power the better but, for the difference in price is it worth it? (Seasonic is a 1/4 more expensive than the Corsair, £150 plays £120)
also would I need the 700W for all the componants in my spec or would the 620w suffice even when everything is running at full tilt.
Many thx for any comments you may have.

I'd go with the Corsair.

I agree, the Corsair is a much better value then the M12, and it can handle your rig w/ OCing easy.

I'm afraid I'm a frugal mofo. I'm going to say Corsair. That and with the girth of the 12V rail, I can't see why you'd need any more.

Great stuff, thx to all.
Not sure if I like the moulded cables but, I know I like the £££ saving..
thx r4z

You mean modular? They are a nice feature to have, as you will find out :)

the 620 was the first modular ps i've owned and will never go back to conventional cable
this thing is so quiet and the ease of the cable runs makes it perfect for me

I guess you didn't get an HX with the fan problem ;)

What "fan problem?" (got link?)
My 520W had a buzz from the transformer, but my 620W was fine. The replacement 520W had no buzz or "fan problem."

Over at HardForums Dave posted that your had a fan 'vibrating' problem. I guess he was wrong...

My 620 is as silent as a mouse. Love it.

Not to say you can't always go by what Dave says... ;) But if you read the review, you'll see that I said I had a buzzing noise. Not fan vibration.
He might have been confused because in one sentence I had mentioned that during test 4 "there was a buzzing noise and the 120MM fan became very noticeable" but those are two separate observations.

No, I want modular, I was refering to the style of the cable sleeving in that rather than being the 'traditional' sleeving its the plastic moulded stuff.

I didn't remember the exact part of the review, thanks for clarifying.

you can take the cables and bend them just about any way you want and they stay ,unlike the rounded cables that won't

It's going to seem like I'm spamming because I've posted these pictures up in three different forums, but I'll put up some pictures I did with Ultra's similar "FlexForce" cables and you'll see how molded cables are really the cat's ass....
Gimme a sec to find them...
Here we go....
http://www.jonnyguru.com/images/blackBuild/pic05.jpg
I was able to run the FlexForce cables all of the way down the back of the board and out the end for the video card and the front 120MM.

Even sending the main ATX cable around the back is cake. Unfortunately, the main ATX on the Corsair is a standard sleeved cable so that's going to have to be out in plain sight:

your the reason, its all your fault ,your to blame, why i got this unbelievably great psu, the review was spot on about how silent it was ,and how the molded cables were "cats ass" thanks again jg

Jonny, are those cables on the X2 or the X-Finity? Or both :O Nice cabling BTW.
jonnyGURU

That's an "XVS" or "X-Connect V-Series." Essentially they took the V-Series and made it modular. Used black FlexForce cables instead of the UV reactive ones.

Was it made by Wintech or Andyson? I would assume Wintech seeing as you said "they took the V-Series and made it modular."

Yeah... Wintech.

Me too, but many people still think Ultra is of the same quality as Aspire, Deer, Leadman, etc.

I have an Ultra engineering sample with the oder FlexForce cables, and they are very easy to run - here's pics of my rig:

Those Flexforce cables were a very good choise by Ultra. Nice cabling SuperSix! I wish I could do that... most of the time my cables look like the ones in the "before" picture of the "new cabling pics" thread at AT Cases and Cooling.

I have the M12 700 and it hasn't blown up or anything crazy.
Very quiet although most of the time there's music, talking, announcements, etc. going on however I did get to hear the power supply in a quiet room and it's definitely quiet. :)
The 60mm fan runs most of the time except when it was first turned on. The case feels warm to the touch on the outside but not hot. Voltages look good on all fronts.
Expensive but if it works reliably and we don't have to worry about it tripping AFCI protected lines (cough Enermax Liberty 620) it's good with me. :)

Well guys, it turned up at the start of the week and I finally pulled my finger out and got it installed this afternoon and I must say that I am very happy with it - I also, due to the niceness of the braided and moulded cables on the PSU, tidied up the rats nest of cables in my Armor (been meaning to do it since I built 6 months ago!)

So Im chuffed and temps appear to have dropped a little even tho' I removed two 90mm case fans, I ahve the 25cm Fan Side Panel coming next week so, will wait till thats in b4 I put them back in.
One slight negative tho' is the 2 way four pin adapter, which for me was a little short as I needed a four pin for the Mobo and one for my XiFire card and it wasnt long enough to feed around the back of the GFX cards to the last PCI slot so, I had to go in front of the cards :(
Other than that very good, as the cables are great to bend and form however you need - also good selection of long and short molex cables.
Once again thx to all who contributed towards this decision.
