Well, I thought it would be interesting to check out an XPS 700 1kW power supply.
Sadly, instead of having an 8pin EPS 12V plug, it has some fancy 18 or so pin 2nd connector, no 4 or 8pin 12V
I was still interested in checking out the caps, etc inside... see what people get.
Oddly enough, both on the primary and secondary side were filled with Rubycon caps, and a few very small caps were lecica* (dunno how to spell it)
It is built like the Silverstones, two PCB's tied together. I am very curious how this thing is built, and by who... because it looked really nice!
Jonnyguru would fall in love with how quiet the 1kW PS is, DEAD SILENT! 5 seperate 12V rails @ 950W, 150W 3.3v/5v
anyway, interesting stuff... could be a real winner if it is inexpensive and can be modded for standard motherboards (dont see why it couldnt)
Comes with 4 6pin PCI-Express plugs. two say 10A on them, the other two say 6A on them... not really sure how that works out.

haha, i dunno if i would take the whole thing apart again. I am going to call up dell spare parts and see if they could just sell me out-right a 1kw power supply. Then I could have fun :) scratch that... then i could send it to jonnyguru and he can have fun :P

Delta, Delta, Delta, Delta! Dell uses FSP for most of their systems. Then Deltas for their gaming systems.

I might be wrong but over at badcaps it was stated that most Dell PSUs are OEMed by Lite-On.

That is what I read. Now, I'm going to pry open the ones in my lab and take a peek.
Over the past 10 years the only component that has failed (other than doa ram) has been a lite-on dvd player. It died after 10 months (it was purchased during the bad cap era - around late 2002). The oldest running component I have is a scsi disk that has been spinning for near continous for 11 years (actually two fo them - one is a fuji the other a conner which were the el cheapo of the scsi world).

I know that Dell used to use Lite-On PSU's by way of Foxconn (pre-Deer aquisition.) But I don't know if that's still true. I thought they were using Delta and this unit might be the same as the one that was in that server SuperSix built the other day.

Back when the Dimension 8200 was the shizit from Dell, they use to have an option between getting NZXT 550W-650W as their upper end PSU.:)
I also think that they were offered with the Gen 1 XPS's

So only this picture was bigger so we could see the UL number.

Even if the picture was big enough, there is no number under the UL logo.
But that's ok. It's definitely a Topower. You can tell from the cables and the octagon shaped "Hi-Pot", "ATE", etc. stickers across the top.
I wonder if the NZXT Precise 650W is the same as the Mushkin XP-650. ;)
I think it is. it has the rail-combining, very topowerish cables (the snake-skinned cables, sleeving over the 20+4 and 4+4, the rest only twisted and unsleeved).

But all of this is very OT. Because I SERIOUSLY doubt Dell would put a Topower power supply in one of their builds.
