Wait... he didn't mod it!! :D
LOL, darn ya caught me, hmm... maybe a JG on the heatsink?
Well done MT ;) Glad to know the 76 keeps up with that 79. XFX rock!!
Thank You, I was very nicely surprised at the results. I definitely have plans for that card in the near future. I think it will make an ideal card for an HTPC setup.
I wouldn't mind even seeing how it would stack up in SLI vs the 7900GS. I am pretty sure the outcome would be the same though ;).

I had just popped into JG from a long price scanning session around the web and subsequent pondering whether or not I should consider a pair of these for my Asus system. I was looking at the 590 core clock unit...the XXX, I believe it is designated...and happen to see this Fatality version for $30 higher.
Wondering if it would be worth it, the thought dawned on me as I entered JG to look in the GPU section...haven't been there before tonight...to make a post asking about this card. I scrolled a little to gander at the offerings and there was your immediate review. An excellent review, at that.
Your review told me all I needed to know about this card. From what I gather, it might equal my 7800GT CO since it can almost hang with a 7900GS. But I plan to get a couple.
Not sure I want to pay $160 for each of them, though. You know a place were I can pick up a couple a little cheaper?
Anyway, thanks for your review. JG is the place to be for info. :)
Tiger Direct (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2769348&Sku=P450-7956&SRCCODE=PRICEGRABBER&CMP=OTC-PRICEGRABBER) currently has a 15 rebate on this card bring it down to $144.99. Just keep in mind, these do run hotter than a stock fan cooled card. Running in SLI I would assume they will want to run a little hotter too. Make sure you have good case cooling to accommodate that.

Thanks.
I've noticed, people around here use a lot of Ultra products. I saw your choice of memory in your test rig.
Are Ultra products really that good? I love their cases and their PSUs have certainly come a very long way since the original X-Connect 500 but I always felt about most of the other stuff as though it were just an inexpensive kind of "value" series of product. Nothing that would be considered performance in the leagues of Corsair or Crucial.
Lately, the more I read in JG, I'm coming to feel Ultra might actually forge a performance niche for themselves if they are striving and if that is what they are striving for.
Samsung did it. Toshiba, Sanyo and other used-to-be very humble, seemingly cheap-product companies are now world leaders in innovation and mass production as well as quality.
It would amaze me, not because I don't think they can't do it, but that they would do it, if Ultra eventually stood side by side and neck and neck with Corsair and other high performance companies. It would certainly be welcome because they are a great choice for some products and I would love to see them be a great choice for all PC products.

I'm not really sure I'll buy these particular ones. I'm not really trying to go for performance as much as I'm trying to get away from the 6200TC and do a first time SLI config for my Asus. That said, the only real reason I've considered this card is the cool looks and Fatality branding.
I'll more than likely just settle for a couple of the XXX version. Besides, I despise rebates...one reason I don't shop at TD much and TigerDirect usually makes up for any discount given with their shipping rates. It's a good, quality, reputable company, though.
On the Ultra memory, the ones you see in the pic are of good quality. They do have the micron chips, which have been known to overclock extremely well. Unfortunately both of my rigs have mobo's that do not like overclocking to well so I am waiting to get my hands on a good board.
I have 5 rigs in my house right now and only 1 of them doesn't have Ultra products in it. The only reason it doesn't have Ultra something in it is because it's not mine :). I have no problems with the Ultra products that I have. They are always great looking and normally peform as advertised. I have only had a few things go south, which is expected with the amount of Ultra product that passes through here.
Knowing people helps too ;).

Huh!?! You mean the EVGA board? Those are supposed to be designed around OCing.
They might be designed around it. Its a 50 / 50 shot from everything I have read on the net about it. This is my second board!

Well, if you ever try the new 680i boards post your results. I'd love to know because that is one of the boards I was looking at for a next...if ever...build.

Tazz do you think you could get me a copy of the bios from the card?
PM me, it will take a few days, currently have that rig dismantled.
