.98 power factor???? Never heard of that. Didn't know it was really even possible. Whats the efficiancy?

Interesting to see how they have maintained the regular form factor for such a high power unit. The price is a bit too much for my tastes...lol. Nice to see the 50 C test rating. I seriously doubt that this unit can be quiet at 50 C!

It says 83% on the tech specs page, but it doesn't say if that's min, max or typical.

And .98 isn't unusual. At lower loads, large PSU's don't typically achieve > .99 PF. That's why many labels say, ">.96 PF" because at standby, the PSU is probably .96PF.

And remember it isn't a Win-TAct ;)

Interesting to see how they have maintained the regular form factor for such a high power unit.

It's 230MM deep. That's 9" for those spawned from the Florida school system.

That's 60% larger than what I consider "standard."

I find it rather fuddish that they have to keep repeating that it "fits most ATX cases," but then makes you pull up the dimension/wiring diagram to find out the actual depth of the thing.

I'd still like to get my hands on one.

That is still very impressive at 50 C. :)

>$500 a piece. Be my guest Jonny. I sure as hell can't afford one. I could sell my room-mate for $100, but then that would be it. :(

Really? Now this is something I'm not aware of! I thought the Turbo-Cool like was all WinTact? Jonny, any thoughts?

No. It is specially handcrafted in a top secret clean room filled with atom splitting, dam building engineers and physicists. They even have a christening ceremony where the housing is kissed by a golden goose.

All of this just happens to be located within the Win-Tact factory.. that's all. But it's not BUILT BY Win-Tact.

I thought it was given a golden shower...

Seriously, I'm getting a bit tired on all the FUD surrounding the G80 that's being fed by things like this PSU.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion:p

I see they raised the price $20, as the pre-orders are only $529. :(

It's ridiculous when your power supply requires a 20A (120VAC) circuit - dedicated. (or is that detonated? :D )

We run everything at 240VAC so no worries about current but this is a problem. The current power supplies have quite the inrush current when cold started as it is. At the current trend a 1.5kW unit doesn't look so far fetched.

according to the TT tech in the other thread these are just 2 - 500w units crammed into a single case to make a 1kw unit ..is this correct ?

So far, all the >1kw power supplies on the market have just been 2 500W power supplies squeezed into one unit... Tt's will actually be one whole power supply outputting 1kw. That's all I know for now folks! =)

2 - 610's @ $159 each does not equal $549

Howdy,
Finally got around to registering but been reading for a while now. Anyway, they seem to be going back to a single 12v rail which is going to confuse people more so than before. Myself included. Which is better a single 12v rail or multiple rails? I wish these companies would choose a standard and stick with it! :wall:

$549 is too much if you ask me. I mean for that much I'd better get some extra luvin from that psu if you know what I mean? lol

I think you'll find the answer to your question here:

Another PCP&C 1K unit (3 12V rails though).

The pics in the PCP&C website for the SR unit show just one Primary cap (looks like a Hitachi, but I'm not sure of the difference between the black and blue Hitachi's. 85C v/s 105C perhaps?). So is there any advantage to using only one Primary cap apart from cost and saving space?

Yeah. That's the original one that's been out for over a year now. Essentially based on the same platform as the Turbo-Cool 850W. They "combined" the rails of that unit to make this one... and charge more for it. ;)

$500+ as opposed to $400+ ? Do you think the madshrimps reviewed one has the same fake 12V rail config as the Antec "Trio" ?
