For some of the GTS 640mb's going for 350, this new release is a crappy deal in my opinion.

i agree with you.
leadtek 320mb (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122021)
leadtek 640mb (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122018)
(leadtek was the cheapest)
i think its worth the extra ~$70 to get the 640mb version. if you already got the ~$300 to buy the 320mb version, why not save a little longer?

Yeah, if you're going to pony up for a new GPU and you don't want to have to reinvest in a few months, you're better off riding right behind the bleedin' edge. The 8800GTX is bleedin' edge, so the GTS version is where it's at I think.

The XXX versions are pretty attractive because they are usually speed binned in addition to being overclocked. I owned a set of 6800GS XXX cards which put me in the top 10 3DM scores. All this was on air and on the stock HSF..lol.
Is the core a product of a process shink, or is it the same process as the GTX?
