The fan is centered on this Etasis unit vs the 850 Zeus. This moves the cooling air much nearer the highly stressed, but shielded by the wiring harness, output capacitors. This is a good thing.

The fan in this Etasis is speced at 42cfm@12V@35dBA. This low air flow does suprise me, must be that it's very well sinked.

The Zeus varient of this unit is more efficient, particularly in jon's hot-box testing. About 79% vs 84%.

He did comment on using heavier gauge wiring at the pcb, then splitting it with lighter gauge once outside the PSU. Ultra has done this on one unit(can't remember as it all blends together after awhile  might be the 800W) and it seems to be a good idea because it opens up the area around the output caps to air flow.

Check that.

Remember the ST85ZF I ran at 230V input because I wasn't getting the high efficiency Silverstone promised.

Higher input voltage is going to give you better efficiency.

Jonny:
IS this unit for all general purpose's the same as the silver stone unit or is there a difference between the 2?

Not all of the cables are sleeved....on an 850W PSU? Give me a break, it looks like such a mish-mash of colors. What a shame for such a highly-regarded PSU.

Jonny:
you need to get a Zippy Gaming 850W (6850 model) to compare against this one.

they are different PSU's.

the zippy isnt quiet. Which puts it into a class by itself.

Wolf thanks for the link. I just got 1 one of my psl-6850's back from Performance-Pcs Hank Baron the owner fully modularized and sleeved it.

Nice read John thanx..

I'm glad I bought it. Here in Greece the Etasis is 40 euros cheaper. 240 vs 280 (st85zf).

I don't care about aesthetics in a psu.. And it has plenty of sata connectors..So should the efficiency worry me or not?

Again thnx m8

Not at all. The efficiency was fairly decent. Just not 80 Plus material.

Man that etasis would look sexy as hell in a silver Lian-Li v1000-2000, and the label would be facing the right way.

You still woulden't see it, the window on both models stops above the PSU;)

It's crappy aesthetics wise anyway. Almost like a generic psu..:p
But hey.. If it's doing the job well.. :)

how is that fan able to keep that thing cool at all?
