For the last five months, we’ve been telling the tale of vengeance. During that time we have tested a three of the units from the Corsair VENGEANCE series, the 400, the 500, and the 650M. Today we will be making the fourth installment in that series by testing the VENGEANCE 550M. As we have seen in the past, we tend to get a bit repetitive when testing multiple units from the same line. Be that as it may, it’s still important to do the testing because it allows us to see if that line is capable of providing similar results from top to bottom. So without any further delays, what do you say we get on with the show and see if this VENGEANCE 550M can put another mark in the win column for Corsair.

Let’s do a quick recap before we start our fourth installment in the VENGEANCE series. The VENGEANCE 400W just pulled in a score of 9.3 earlier this month, the VENGEANCE 500W hit a score of 9.4 back in September, and the VENGEANCE 650M bagged a score of 9.9 back on June. Do we want to make any guesses on where the VENGEANCE 550M is going to land?
When it comes down to the marketing, this is where we begin to get repetitive but we’ll try to keep it to a minimum. Corsair says the VENGEANCE series is “your ideal solution for value-oriented builds and upgrades”. At this point in time, I’d say we would have to agree with that statement. We’ve seen nothing but high marks from the series thus far in our testing. I don’t expect anything less from the VENGEANCE 550M.
With this being a budget minded unit, it’s nice to see that it carries a 5 Year Corsair Guarantee. We have increased long-term reliability with the all Japanese 105°C rated electrolytic capacitors. Reduced fan noise at low and medium loads thanks to the thermally controlled exhaust fan. They provide you with a fan noise chart as well as an efficiency chart so you can get an idea of what you should expect from this unit. Of course, the most important information is the specifications which can be found at the lower rear section of the box.
Personally, if I was paying to have the box printed. I think I personally would try to capitalize on it and either add a little more content or something. We end up with three sides of the box telling us basically the same thing.
On one of the longer sides, we have our connector and cable information. This tells us which cable has what connectors and how long each are.
Quiet, Efficient, Operation!… Unfortunately, that’s not a luxury we get to see here. The testers we use generate enough noise that you generally can’t hear any of the computers running in the room.
Here we have the Shuko power cable, the four modular cables, the VENGEANCE 550M, the peripheral to Berg adapter, the warranty guide, a safety guide, and a small bag containing a few zip ties and some screws. The user manuals are located online at Corsairs VENGEANCE 550 page in the download section.
Here we have a close up of the Corsair VENGEANCE 550M.
