I recently took a look at the Delta DPS-500YB-B power supply, which left me wanting better minor rail voltage regulation, along with a more competitive price. Today I am taking a look at a larger unit in the DPS lineup, the DPS-1200QB-B. The DPS500YB-B was in the 1U Non-Redundant class, whereas this unit comes from the Pedestal class. So the DPS-1200QB-B will be a little closer to what we are normally looking at here at JonnyGURU.com.

Now that’s the kind of marketing overload we like. Ok, all joking aside, we are looking at another Delta server-grade PSU which is why this unit came in a plain brown box.
The contents are as simple as the exterior with only the DPS-1200QB-B and one piece of padding included.
With the DPS-1200QB-B out of the box, we can see that the casing is as plain as the box it came in. With this being a server-grade unit, we don’t really expect it to be a flashy unit like we see in the enthusiast market.
It doesn’t really matter which way we turn it, does it?
The Delta DPS-1200QB-B uses a hexagon exhaust grill to allow for optimal cooling performance.
That watermark logo actually looks pretty good on there.
On the other end, we have an 80mm fan to keep this monster 1200W unit cool. The real question is, will we pay for this cooling with excessive noise?
There’s that awesome logo again.
Finally, we have the most important side, the side that includes the specifications. Oh, cool… this thing is 80 PLUS Platinum rated.
