SilverStone has become very serious about computer power supplies in a very short period of time. The DA-850 features just about everything you would need for a high end gaming machine. There are four 6-pin PCI-e connectors and two 8-pin PCI-e connectors and a single +12V rail capable of delivering up to 70A.

Speaking of delivering power, let’s take a look at those output rails…

As you can see, the +12V rail is capable of delivering over 98% of the power supplies total output power.

Let’s go ahead and open the box and have a look at what’s inside…

OK. We’ve got the power supply itself, a whole mess of cables, a nylon bag to store all of your cables in and a manual.

There’s more underneath the cables, but I’m thinking we should focus a little more on these DC output cables a bit before we get to that.

It’s very nice of SilverStone to put all of the cable and connector specs right on the back of the box so you know what’s in there before you even open it up!

So here’s the pouch that comes with the power supply.

And here’s that pouch stuffed with all of the cables that are included with the DA850.

You can now roll up the bag and stow it away somewhere safe.

Above are some of the additional items we find in our box. We have the customary power cord, a 6 to 8-pin PCI-e cable, and a bag with some mounting screws and some zip-ties. You can never have enough zip-ties.

Here’s a picture of the Decathlon with all of the cables installed.

And here’s what the interface looks like with all of the cables removed. As with all modular SilverStone units, the label showing what connector powers what devices is a nice touch.

With the PSU installed in some cases, it might be a little tough to read the label. Pretty much only when the stamped “SilverStone” logo is facing out is the label really useful, but it’s still a nice detail.

The Decathlon is cooled with a 120MM fan. I’m actually surprised SilverStone hasn’t followed the current trend of using the largest fan size possible; 135 or 140MM, but at least it’s much larger and much quieter than an 80MM fan.

Here’s the label on the side of the Decathlon. Note the UL logo missing the actual UL file number. I guess the OEM for this unit is “top secret.”

And finally, here’s the DC output specifications as seen on the PSU’s label.
