Today I have the Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1000W power supply on the bench. The particular unit I’m testing is the “RS-A00-EMBA.” Remember that, because there is also a modular version of this power supply with the model number of “RS-A00-ESBA.” Mine has fixed DC output cables.

The back of the Cooler Master retail box is a stark contrast of the sparsely decorated front. Everything we want to know about the power supply is on the back. I know my photo is too small to allow you to read the details, so I’ve blown up the important tidbits below…
Above is a close up of the specification list from the back of the box. What really floors me is the claim that the efficiency is > 85% typical. Not 85% typical. Not 85% maximum. But GREATER THAN 85% typical. We’ll see about that. We also have a table with the DC output. We’ll touch on that once I get the power supply out of the box.
Finally! Half way through page one I get to open the retail box. Inside, we can see we have our power supply, manual on top, a power cord and there’s a small bag of little black #6-32 screws for mounting. This is all contained within polyethylene foam blocks.

Above is a picture of the label from the side of the power supply and our standard DC Output table. We can see here that we have six +12V rails, each capable of 18A. The total +12V output capability is 960W. 96% of the power supply’s potential output capability. The UL logo has “E166947” under it. That tells us that this unit is built by Enhance Electronics. We can also see that as sealed stick was removed, lost or damaged, it shall be out of warranty validity.
With the Real Power Pro now out of the box, we can see that it is rather large, with it’s 180MM length, but it’s still not as large as some units such as the Enermax Galaxy. The finish isn’t quite the trendy “titanium” finish we’ve seen so much of in the last few years, but the super high-gloss black finish is still very nice.
The entire rear of the power supply is honeycomb for exhaust ventilation. Note the lack of an OFF/ON switch. This may bother a few folks. There is a small LED to the right of the input power connector that is red when the power supply is in stand-by and green when the power supply is on.
Above is a money shot of all of the cables in their tidy little bundle. As you can see, one of my aesthetic pet peeves is addressed; the cables are sleeved all of the way to the end connector.

What surprised me with the number of connectors is that there are only two cables for all of the peripheral connectors. Each cable has three 5.25″ peripheral power connectors (aka “Molex”) and one 3.5″ floppy power connector. I generally don’t like this because if you have only two hard drives or two optical drives to hook up, you have two connectors you need to hide away, but then again if the aesthetics and airflow of the inside of your case matter that much, I suppose you should just get a modular power supply.
The 8 SATA connectors are the same way. There are two cables with four connectors on each.
